I suggest that Float owners should carry out a maintenance programme.
The following issues are JUST A FEW THAT should be checked on a regular basis.
With a regular maintenance programme it keeps your float in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Suggested steps to follow :-
- Floor – clean after use and gurney out Horse Urine etc that collects as this is the main cause of rust in the chassis of the float. Make sure the floor is sound NO ROTTING TIMBERS ETC.
- Have the wheel bearings checked out by a qualified person.
- Make sure that the tyres fitted to your float are legal to carry the load ( No recap Tyres etc)
- All lights are working.
- Correct safety chains fitted to the float comply with Roads and Traffic Regulations for it’s load.
- The brakes are working correctly.
- Your tow vehicle is authorized to tow the Gross Trailer weight.
